I’ve been eaten alive – Alexey Pajitnov

I want to share the poignant story of a Russian programmer who immigrated to America, fueled by ambition and a steadfast belief in the American Dream. I recently watched a film about the creation of Tetris, which, unsurprisingly, presented a feel-good resolution. However, it’s clear that Hollywood often favors painting stories with an overly optimistic brush, leaning more towards propaganda than authentic portrayal.
Despite my cynicism toward such Hollywood narratives, I found myself initially swept up in the same hopeful sentiment. I genuinely applauded this man’s accomplishments, attributing them to his undeniable talent and expertise. Yet, something felt incomplete – a disconnect between his skills and a seeming naiveté regarding the pervasive hypocrisy within the tech industry. Despite the global interest and intense corporate machinations surrounding him, he ultimately struggled with internal limitations. Sadly, like many others in similar circumstances, his journey ended tragically, culminating in emotional collapse and, ultimately, his death…
The renowned Russian academic and entrepreneur mentioned in the text was known for his expertise in the specialized field of human-computer interaction. His contributions to the development and marketing of the iconic video game, Tetris, alongside Alexey Pajitnov, have left a lasting impact on the world of gaming. Through their collaboration, they were able to create a game that has become a household name and a staple in pop culture.
The academic’s work in human-computer interaction has paved the way for advancements in technology and user experience design. His research and innovations in this field have influenced the way we interact with computers and devices today. By understanding human behavior and cognitive processes, he was able to enhance the user experience and make technology more intuitive and user-friendly.
In addition to his academic achievements, the entrepreneur side of him played a crucial role in the success of Tetris. His marketing strategies helped bring the game to a global audience and establish it as one of the best-selling video games of all time. Through effective branding and distribution, they were able to reach gamers around the world and create a lasting legacy in the gaming industry.
Overall, the academic and entrepreneur’s collaboration with Alexey Pajitnov in creating Tetris not only revolutionized the gaming world but also showcased the power of teamwork and innovation. Their combined efforts have left a remarkable legacy that continues to inspire game developers and technology enthusiasts alike.
Following a period of financial hardship endured by his software enterprise, AnimaTek, the individual in question tragically took the lives of his wife, Elena Fedotova (38), and their young son, Peter (12), before ultimately ending his own life. Prior to this heart-wrenching incident, Pokhilko composed a document, potentially a farewell letter, which contained the following words: “I’ve been eaten alive. Vladimir. Just remember that I am exist. The devil.”

It took me quite a while to fully comprehend the nature of the “devil” he spoke of. I had to witness their presence firsthand in order to believe it. On the surface, it appeared that he lived a comfortable life with his family in the sunny state of California. However, this was merely a façade. The devils were lurking in the shadows, but only those who come from outside can truly detect their existence. Others perceive their actions as normal, completely oblivious to the sinister truth.
It is an utterly diabolical system, one that can only be realized by individuals who possess an unbiased perspective, much like aliens arriving on Earth. If extraterrestrials were to observe our world, their unprejudiced eyes would perceive a simple reality: humanity is driven by man exploiting his fellow man. A small fraction of society already possesses an abundance of wealth and power, and even in their mortality, they manage to retain and pass on their possessions through inheritance.
They arrogantly perceive themselves as the rightful owners of the land, while regarding everyone else as mere intruders. The majority of people have been reduced to nothing more than slaves. Consider this scenario: a child is born today, and due to circumstances beyond their control, they can only be born on Earth. This child quickly realizes that the very land they were born upon is already claimed by another individual. From a young age, they are taught that they must pay rent simply because they had the misfortune of being born later. Is this fair? Absolutely not.
The greed of this select few is so all-encompassing that, in the absence of a free population, they began devouring themselves. As Earth’s resources become increasingly scarce, they brazenly encroach upon other nations, resorting to warfare when met with opposition. They have the audacity to label this entire abomination as “democracy.” This is the truth that would be revealed to the aliens, but on Earth, we simply refer to them as devils.
It’s rather intriguing how seemingly straightforward this concept is, yet why is it that the majority of individuals fail to comprehend it and instead exhibit characteristics resembling that of servitude?
